What is Snail Trail Series?
Snail Trail is Nepal’s first, only, longest-running and favorite series of recreational races that take place every month or two on Kathmandu’s trails and suburbs. You have several distances to choose from: 10Km, 6Km and 3Km. Snail Trail sees 100 to 200 people, of different ages, nationalities and background. While there are winners (108 of them, by distance, gender and age category), this is purely a fun day out with family and friends. All kids below 12 years old get a finisher’s medal. We have a generous cut-off time of all distances, which means you can strut at a comfortable pace. 10K and 6K are for runners and brisk hikers. 3K is designed for tiny kids and their parents. Note that the route is a trail, and not a flat walk in a park. Snail Trail is a great way to spend a Saturday with your loved ones in a fun, safe way while enjoying beautiful hills of Kathmandu valley. All you need is moderate fitness, outdoor shoes and a great attitude – and you’re all good to go!

1. Fill online form
Fill up the online form for Snail Trail Series only if you haven’t in a previous race. This step is mandatory for new participants (we need details on age and gender for results). Takes no more than 2 minutes.
FAQ: I have already filled up the form in a previous Snail Trail event. Does it help to fill up the form again if I have already signed up before, and just in case?
No — we need one-time online entries in order to assign chest numbers. Entering information again is redundant and filtered out as duplicate entry. So only first timer Snail participants need to fill up the online form.

Trail Info
GPS/KML tracks of each of the distances will be available for download on Friday (one day before the race). Carrying a charged smartphone (with credit for mobile data) has been made mandatory, so that you can view the routes on apps like Google Earth, Maps.me or similar in case you lose your way. There will be (intensified) trail markings along the route; the GPS loaded on your phone will be the go-to if you find yourself lost, which in adventure races can be anticipated.

Race Pre-requisites
For participants who want to join Snail Trail Series, please ensure you have the following pre-requisites:
- Physical fitness to finish 10K in 3hrs; 6K in 2.5hrs; and 3K in 2hrs, all of which is plenty.
- Charged smartphone with balance for internet data and apps to view GPS/KML tracks (which will be provided on Friday, one day before the race)
- Ability to navigate on undulating trails, that might be narrow, slippery, muddy, bushy, thorny and steep up or down, through dense vegetation
- Understanding that this is a recreational outdoor adventure race, with an element of physical risk. There are no prizes for winners, monetary or in-kind.
- Payments in advance (before deadline) for regular entries. Walk-ins (and anything after the regular deadline) are subject to late fees
- All participants are required to sign a waiver form during chest number collection, which is a standard measure for any adventure event. It states i) waiving liability for loss of life, limb and property; ii) agreeing to receive group and/or individual email, phone call and/or text related to the races, including updates on participation status; and iii) agreeing to have your photos and videos published on our marketing collaterals. Because there are small kids participating in the race, we make extra sure on safety - which curtails behavior and action of participants on the trails, at the race venue etc.
